Lean into Gratefulness

“I trust God more because of the hard things I’ve gone through. Not the easy things.” ~Micah Tyler

Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.

– James 1:2-4 NIV

In life’s journey, we often find ourselves walking through seasons that test our faith and resilience. It’s during these times that the true depth of our trust in God is revealed. James 1:2-4 encourages us to embrace our challenges, knowing that through them, our faith is strengthened, and our character is refined.

You might be facing your own hurricane or battling a relentless storm. Perhaps you’re watching a loved one fight a hard battle, feeling helpless on the sidelines. It’s in these moments, you’re invited to lean into your faith, to trust God more deeply, and to find gratitude not despite your trials but because of them.

You can trust God through the trials; He is faithful.

Micah Tyler saw God’s hand at work through his brother’s battles with cancer and through personal losses like the devastation of his home by Hurricane Harvey. Through every trial, Micah’s faith was not only tested but also deepened, allowing him to see God’s mercy and faithfulness in new ways.

Now, think of your own life. What are the hurricanes and battles you’re facing? Can you find a way to trust God more through these challenges? Can you find a reason to be grateful in the midst of your storm?

May you choose to trust God more and ask Him to help you see His hand at work in every situation you face. Recognize His mercy and faithfulness, even when the path ahead seems uncertain, and He will strengthen your faith, so that through every trial, you grow closer to Him.

Today’s One Thing

Say: Today, I confess that my trust in God grows stronger through every trial I face. I am grateful for both the mountains and the valleys, for I know that each step of my journey is shaping me into the person God wants me to be. I will not fear the storm, for I am not alone. God is with me, His strength is my refuge, and His promises are my hope.
