Let God Create Something New
Have you ever been in a season where it feels like nothing is working? Whether it’s a project, a relationship, or even your spiritual walk, there comes a point when holding on tight to what isn’t working leaves us feeling stuck, frustrated, and drained.
Behold, I will do a new thing, now it shall spring forth; shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.
– Isaiah 43:19 NKJV
Stephen Stanley, a Christian singer-songwriter, once said about creativity: “You have to blow up the old thing to make something new.” It’s a great word picture of how God often works in our lives. Sometimes, we need to let go of the old—our failed plans, unmet expectations, and the things that are no longer serving us—to make room for the new thing God wants to do.
Letting go of the old isn’t failure—it’s an act of faith.
When we hold onto what’s familiar, even when it’s not fruitful, we limit God’s ability to work in fresh, life-giving ways. In Isaiah 43:19, God declares His desire to “do a new thing” in our lives. But to experience the fullness of His renewal, we must first let go of what’s hindering us.
It can feel like a risk to release control, especially if we’re not sure what’s next. But God promises that He will make “roads in the wilderness” and “rivers in the desert,” turning impossible situations into opportunities for growth and blessing.
Maybe you’ve been clinging to an old way of thinking, a relationship that’s run its course, or a season that has ended. It’s time to trust that God has something better. When we allow Him to clear out the old, He fills our hearts with new purpose, fresh ideas, and deeper faith.
Today’s One Thing
Pray: “Heavenly Father, thank You for the promise of new things in my life. Help me to let go of what is no longer working, even when it feels difficult. Give me faith to trust that You are leading me into something better. I open my heart to Your plans and invite You to create something beautiful out of what feels broken. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
