Let His Light Shine

If you didn’t have any financial needs, and someone was led to give you $10,000 with one caveat, you must give it away; what would you do with it? Would you give it to a specific person or organization or multiple people?

In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

– Matthew 5:16 ESV

A few verses before Matthew 5:16, Jesus declares you are the light of the world. When the Lord’s Son made this statement, He acknowledged He gifted you with influence and encouragement to share His Good News with others.

Your light demonstrates the fruits of the Spirit at work in you and your trust in Him to always take care of you. Others may perceive your light shining as your love, kindness, patience or generosity to others. It can also represent your method of helping others when their surroundings are bleak, and they are looking for a way out of their darkness.

You are an ambassador for Christ, His light to the world.

Christ didn’t want you to compare your self-determined brightness to someone else. He has given you permission and the responsibility to shine, so don’t hide His light. His declaration is simple – He wants you to use your freedom to shine before others without hesitation.

You have the authority of Jesus Christ to represent Him. Let His light shine for the world to see.

Today’s One Thing
Read Matthew 5:13-16 and ask the Lord to reveal to you the smallest of ways that you can let your light shine.
