Let Praise Lead the Way

For what great nation is there that has a god so near to it as the Lord our God is to us, whenever we call upon him?

─ Deuteronomy 4:7

Praise leads to victory! There is a beautiful example of that in 2 Chronicles 20. An enormous army marched against Israel. The people of Israel were so outnumbered they cried out to God. They fasted and prayed until God answered. “Listen, all Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem and King Jehoshaphat: Thus says the Lord to you, ‘Do not be afraid and do not be dismayed at this great horde, for the battle is not yours but God’s’” (2 Chronicles 20:15).

In reply to God’s response to their cries, they gathered together in praise. They selected singers and worshipers, they danced and sang out ahead of Israel’s army! As they praised God, the Bible says the Lord sent an ambush against all of those who came against Israel, defeating them (2 Chronicles 20:22).

When the battle ended, not one Israelite was lost, and every single one of their enemies were captured. The spoil the Israelites took as a result of the battle was so great, it took them three whole days to gather it all up and take it back home.

That’s supernatural victory, and it started with praise.

Today’s One Thing

Are you facing a battle today? Call on God, put your trust in Him and then begin to praise Him. Carry that praise with you throughout your day.
