Let Worship Bring a New Perspective

“You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being.”

─ Revelation 4:11 NIV

Similar to our country today, Christians in the first century were from many backgrounds. Since many of them did not understand Jewish history or the significance of the glory of the temple, John takes care to describe in great detail the scenes from his vision written in Revelation.

When people talk about Revelation, most want to talk about the terrible destruction depicted and prophesied for the end times. But Revelation also instructs us in worship. The specific descriptions John shares demonstrate the where, why and how to praise God.

Our verse today sums up the point of the whole chapter, Revelations 4: “You are worthy, O Lord our God, to receive glory and honor and power. For you created all things, and they exist because you created what you pleased” (verse 11, NLT).

Worship:

  • Changes our perspective.
  • Shifts our focus from our problems to God.
  • Helps us ponder and appreciate God’s character.
  • Lifts our thoughts from the earth to heaven, from the moment to eternity.

Allow worship to bring you a new perspective. When you look to the glorious future God has prepared, you will find His strength to walk through your present difficulties in victory.

Today’s One Thing

Tell of God’s love for you today by praising Him through a story you share with someone else. Ask the Lord to bring encouragement to you and inspire them with it.
