Letting Go of Pressure
Logan from the band CAIN shared that trying to perform under pressure “chokes the creativity of godly things.” When you approach your life or calling as a series of tasks to complete or goals to hit, you risk losing the joy, peace, and freedom that come from simply being with God. But when you stay close to Jesus—listening, resting, and trusting Him to work in you—the fruit will come naturally. It won’t be something you have to manufacture or force.
“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.”
– John 15:5 NIV
In the pressure cooker of daily life, it’s easy to feel like you must do everything in your own strength. The demands of just doing life can leave you feeling squeezed to produce, achieve, and succeed. But Jesus offers a different way—a life where pressure is replaced with abiding, where striving is surrendered for trust. He invites you to stay connected to Him, to let go of performance-based thinking, and instead focus on simply remaining in His presence.
Jesus invites you to let go of the pressure and simply abide in Him.
In John 15:5, Jesus reminds you that He is the vine, and you are the branch. A branch doesn’t strain to produce fruit; it naturally bears fruit by staying connected to the vine. Jesus extends this invitation to you: stop striving to accomplish things on your own. The secret to bearing good fruit, to being successful in whatever you do, is to remain close to Him.
Think about the areas in your life where you feel the most pressure. Are you relying on your own strength to make things happen? Jesus desires for you to let go of that need to control every outcome and trust Him instead. He is the vine, the source of all life, strength, and creativity. When you remain in Him, you’re given exactly what you need for each day.
Today’s One Thing
Declare in prayer today: “I am connected to Jesus, the true Vine. I do not strive to produce; I abide in Him, and He produces good fruit in me. My life is rooted in His strength and peace, and through Him, I bear fruit that glorifies God.”
