Make Room for God
If you want to grow in any relationship, it requires getting to know the person. In getting to know God, it starts with creating space for Him. Discover how to make room for Him in your busy day through prayer.
“But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen.”
– Matthew 6:6 NIV
Prayer doesn’t require fancy words or perfect timing, but it does require time and space. In Matthew 6:6, Jesus teaches us to pray as He does with an invitation to make room for God in the quiet corners of our lives.
God isn’t concerned about where you pray; He just wants to spend time with you.
Your “prayer room” might look a little different than you imagine. It doesn’t have to be a formal prayer closet. Maybe it’s a cozy chair in your living room, a quiet park bench, or even a few uninterrupted moments in your car. The important thing is setting aside a space—physical or mental—where you can meet with God.
It’s not about perfection; it’s about connection. When you intentionally carve out space for prayer, you’re inviting God to meet you there. In that space, distractions fade, and His presence becomes more real.
Today’s One Thing
Identify a “prayer space” where you can meet with God daily. Begin by spending just 10 minutes there each day this week. You can start with this prayer: Lord, help me to make space for You in my life. Show me how to quiet the noise and find moments to be still in Your presence. Thank You for meeting me wherever I am. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
