Never Alone

“The Lord keeps you from all harm and watches over your life. The Lord keeps watch over you as you come and go, both now and forever.”

Psalm 121:7-8

Jenna, sitting on a plane filled with 300 people, listened to a father behind her as he tenderly took care of two active toddlers. They were as well behaved as two confined toddlers could be, and the father’s gentle words reminded Jenna of the loss of her own dad a few months earlier. In her remaining grief, she felt painfully lonely.

Psalm 121 is one of comfort. It reminds us that God cares for each moment of our lives. He is next to us and over us, never abandoning us. He doesn’t sleep, and He never tires of caring for us and loving us. We can always turn to Him, ask for help, and listen for His response.

The Lord watches over our lives. What an astonishing concept to consider! And all our help comes from Him. No matter what difficulties or trials, we can ask Him to send us what we need for relief and hope. And if we need human companionship to help ease our pain, we can ask Him for that as well, but no one will care for us as much as God does.
