Open Doors to Divine Appointments
“Pray, then, in this way: ‘Our Father who is in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. ‘Your kingdom come. Your will be done, On earth as it is in heaven. ‘Give us this day our daily bread. ‘And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. ‘And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil. [For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.’]”
─ Matthew 6:9-13 NASB
“I often pray that the Lord puts me in the right place at the right time,” Nina told her friend Jill as they sat down in Jill’s kitchen for early morning coffee, “but I never dreamed he’d take me overseas to do it.”
“Yes, I know. And usually when we pray that way, we’re asking Him to place us in the right place for favor and blessing. But He took you at your word and plopped you down in Nepal to help someone.”
Nina’s sudden and unexpected assignment overseas connected her to a team she’d never met, and she spent ten days with them. One of the team members had lost her husband in a tragic accident. Nina’s experiences helped her to speak into this young woman’s life and bring some comfort, encouragement and hopefully lasting change.
Praying the Lord’s prayer and inviting God’s kingdom to come unlocks divine appointments – meetings arranged by the Holy Spirit that will change a person’s life. It works both ways. Sometimes they have something you need; other times you have something that they need.
Today’s One Thing
Are you open to divine appointments? Pray the Lord’s prayer this week each morning and then watch for God to open the door to divine appointments.
