But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself. Therefore, my brothers, whom I love and long for, my joy and crown, stand firm thus in the Lord, my beloved.

Paul’s Recipe for Peace

It’s a new year and many today are happy to see 2020 behind us. It was an unprecedented, unexpected and challenging year. And as we stand on the precipice of this new year, now more than ever, it’s important to take courage and remember to stand firm in faith.

Paul’s words in our verses today are a recipe for peace in difficult times. The way to stand firm is to:

1. Keep your eyes on Christ.
2. Remind yourself that this world is not your home.
3. And know that Christ will bring everything under His control.

The cares of this world are not yours. You live in a hostile world, but you don’t belong to it. Heaven is your home.

Today’s One Thing

The next time you feel overwhelmed by the chaos of this world, close our eyes and imagine Christ seated at the right hand of the Father, pleading your case for you.
