Pause and Choose His Path

Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

─ Isaiah 41:10

Zoe enjoyed the view out of her passenger window. The light snow glistened softly as the headlights brushed the edges of the country road. “It’s such a pretty night,” she said softly to her husband, Mark.

“Yes,” he agreed, “and everything looks so different out here, away from the city.”

Suddenly, Zoe leaped forward in her seat. “Stop … stop …” she directed. “Did you see the doe crossing the road?”

“Oh, look,” Mark whispered. “There are babies on the side of the road.”

Mark stopped the car, and they waited. Thankfully, the road was quiet – no other traffic. They quietly whispered encouragements to the fawns as three little ones stepped timidly on to the road, paused for several seconds as if carefully choosing the right path, and then suddenly bounded across the road and into the woods after their mother.

“Our lives have been so crazy busy through the holidays,” Zoe commented. “Seeing the fawns tonight reminded me how important it is for us to pause and seek the Lord’s leading and direction to choose the path He has for us in the coming year.”
