Peace – a Fruit of the Spirit

God’s peace holds us steady. Peace flows from a deep trust in God—a trust that says, “I know You are in control, and I am resting in You.” This peace grows in our hearts as we allow the Holy Spirit to work within us.

And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

– Philippians 4:7 ESV

Have you experienced moments when worry tries to take over, filling your mind with “what ifs” and fear of the unknown? In those times, God calls us to lean on Him. His peace steps in as a guard, protecting our hearts and minds from anxiety. Through the Holy Spirit, He strengthens us to face challenges calmly and with clarity. Instead of being swept up in fear, we can stand firm, knowing His peace doesn’t depend on what’s happening around us but on who He is within us.

When God’s peace guards your heart, you become less reactive, more patient, and more compassionate. By focusing on God’s faithfulness rather than the pressures around you, you can respond to situations and people with grace instead of frustration. This peace will transform you and bless those around you, giving them a glimpse of God’s work in your life.

Peace flows in a heart that chooses to trust God.

As you nurture your relationship with God, the fruits of the Spirit—like peace, love, and joy—show up more and more. These aren’t qualities you “put on.” They’re the natural result of a life devoted to Him. Peace becomes the outward sign of an inward transformation, a quiet strength that says, “God’s got me.”

In the same way Jesus calmed the storm in Mark 4:39, when you surrender your fears and anxieties (your storms) to Him, peace takes root, your storms are calmed, and peace fills your heart.

Today’s One Thing

As you pray and release any concerns, challenges, and anxieties to God, declare, “I am grounded in God’s peace, allowing it to guard my heart and mind. I trust in the Holy Spirit’s work within me to grow His peace.”
