Quiet Conversation

What agreement has the temple of God with idols? For we are the temple of the living God; as God said, “I will make my dwelling among them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Therefore go out from their midst, and be separate from them, says the Lord, and touch no unclean thing; then I will welcome you, and I will be a father to you, and you shall be sons and daughters to me, says the Lord Almighty.”

─ 2 Corinthians 6:16-18 ESV

You are the temple of the Lord. Wherever you go, whatever you do, God is right there with you. He remains ready and eager to meet with you.

Ravi Zacharias, said, “We are His temple. We do not turn in a certain direction to pray. We are not bound by having to go into a building so that we can commune with God. There are no unique postures and times and limitations that restrict our access to God. My relationship with God is intimate and personal. The Christian does not go to the temple to worship. The Christian takes the temple with him or her. Jesus lifts us beyond the building and pays the human body the highest compliment by making it His dwelling place, the place where He meets with us.”

Look at our verse today in The Passion Translation. “What friendship does God’s temple – yes, that’s specifically talking about you – have with demons? For indeed, we are the temple of the living God.” Your heavenly father has said: “I will make my home in them and walk among them. I will be their God, and they will be my people.”

And that’s why you are to “come out from among them and be separate.” You are supposed to look differently, think differently and refuse to embrace the vile and wicked things of this world.

And when you do … God promises, “I will be a true Father to you, and you will be my beloved sons and daughters,” says the Lord Yahweh Almighty.

Wow! What a promise for you as a follower of Christ. The very Spirit of God resides in you. You don’t have to do anything special to be with Him. You can speak with Him, confide in Him and hear from Him about anything you desire to share.

Today’s One Thing

As you go about your day today, have small chats and quiet moments with the One who loves you most. Get alone, or just whisper quietly to Him. Ask Him questions. Expect His wisdom. Converse with Him like you would a very close friend. And listen to hear what He impresses upon your heart. You may be surprised how much He has to say.
