Reflecting Christ in You
That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him, having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you.
─ Ephesians 1:17-18
One morning as Darcy blow-dried her hair, she looked out from her bathroom door to the hallway into her bedroom and noticed the hallway paint color looked gray, rather than the beige color she knew she painted it. That’s so odd, she thought. She’d never noticed it looking that color before.
Always interested in the why, she stepped into the bedroom and turned on the light. Immediately the gray hues shifted back to the beige color she knew the walls to be. She surmised her perception of the paint had changed due to the light that was coming in through the hallway and intersecting with the light from the bathroom.
Light affects the tints, shades and hues we see, influencing our perception of what is in front us. Similarly, God’s life, light and presence reflect in the identify we carry of ourselves and the images others see in us. Influences from the world can skew our perception, causing us to experience depression, confusion and a host of distractions. When our view changes, we can ask God to give us wisdom to enlighten our hearts to reflect Christ.
Today’s One Thing
Spend time in the Bible today reflecting on who you are in Christ. Declare who you are in Christ by reading Galatians 2:20, 2 Corinthians 5:17 and 1 Peter 2:9.
