Refuse to Quit

For God alone, O my soul, wait in silence, for my hope is from him. He only is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be shaken. On God rests my salvation and my glory; my mighty rock, my refuge is God.

─ Psalm 62:5-7 ESV

Refuse to Quit

How many times in the past year have you wanted to quit? No doubt you’ve wanted to give up on something and even thought about what it would look like if you did. When it comes to living like we have with all the chaos from absolutely unexpected, it’s hard to accept that everything we do is out of our hands.

We have two choices, trust God or quit. And quitting takes you down the road to a place called “Nowhere.” You quit, and you’re stuck. At some point you realize, the only way out is to look up to your heavenly Father and wait for His instruction or intervention.

In our verse today, the psalmist’s words offer hope in waiting. He speaks to his soul – his thoughts, desires and feelings. He waits in silence for God alone. His hope – and yours – rests only in Him.

You can stand firm in your faith and refuse to quit today by deciding He is your rock, your salvation and your fortress. No matter what thoughts come or emotions flood your heart, refuse to be shaken. Speak to your soul with the Psalmist’s words, “On God rests my salvation and my glory; my mighty rock, my refuge is God.”

Today’s One Thing

Review the verse above. Read it quietly aloud to yourself. Then pray it aloud to God. Take courage from it and trust God.
