Rejuvenated and Restored
The word renew implies a restoration of what has become faded, worn out and depleted. To renew or rejuvenate means to return something to a former or original condition (Merriam-Webster). Let’s face it; when life’s circumstances have walloped you, or you have been going 90 miles an hour for an extended period of time, you need rest and rejuvenation.
Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and uphold me with a willing spirit.
– Psalm 51:12 ESV
As seen in David’s life with the writing of Psalm 51, he needed to be restored because his sinful life had overtaken his joy. Fortunately, he recognized his wrongful behavior and went directly to God to be restored and filled with joy again.
As opposed to David’s case, there are times when life hits hard, or when life’s journey goes too fast, depleting you of energy, focus and motivation. The demands of life can be overwhelming at times. It’s easy to get caught up in the pursuit of more.
When you rest in God’s presence, He will restore and rejuvenate you from the inside out. By surrendering your worries, concerns and burdens to Him, you can experience the joy and peace that come from knowing you are not alone in your struggles.
God wants you refreshed, rejuvenated and restored with the joy and energy that only He can provide.
Resting is not a sign of weakness but a vital component of a healthy and productive life. You shouldn’t feel guilty about the time you schedule to purposefully pause, slow down. Spend time in God’s presence. Allow Him to fill you with His love, grace and wisdom. Allow this time to be more than a few minutes, but more like a day or more so you can rest physically and refresh spiritually.
When you return to your daily tasks and responsibilities, you will experience renewed energy and motivation. Embrace your time with God and recognize that He is ready and willing to provide you with the strength and guidance you need. Take a deep breath, trust in His love and faithfulness, and allow yourself to rest in His arms. You will be amazed at how much you can accomplish when fully rested, restored and rejuvenated by His grace.
