Remove the Weight; Experience Joy
Blessed is the one whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered. Blessed is the one whose sin the Lord does not count against them and in whose spirit is no deceit.
─ Psalm 32:1-2 NIV
Remove the Weight; Experience Joy
Unforgiveness steals your joy. Whether you harbor unforgiveness against someone, hold a grudge hoping to make someone pay for their wrongdoing or refuse to forgive yourself because of your past, your joy can never be full.
You serve a forgiving God. It’s His nature to forgive and never remember the offense, which is something many of us struggle with. Even when we’ve gone to God and asked for forgiveness, we continue to bury ourselves under the weight of the memory of the sin, when in fact God has removed it from us.
God’s love forgives transgressions, covers sin and never counts that sin against us once we’ve repented. The Psalmist, in our verses today, calls out the forgiven one. You are blessed if your sins are forgiven and your spirit has no deceit.
The forgiven person can experience joy free from any hindrances because the soul is once again light and free. The weight of sin and all that comes with it has been removed, cast into the sea, never to be remembered by the Father.
