Schedule Time with God

Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, now that you have tasted that the Lord is good.

─ 1 Peter 2:2-3 NIV

Schedule Time with God

Children want to grow up. They have extravagant ideas about who they are and who they will become. If you ask them how old they are, often they’ll tell you how old they will be on their next birthday instead of their current age.

When we accept Christ, we are born again. Spiritually, we are like newborns. We crave the Word of God in a simple form, much like babies need milk to grow. We too should desire to mature in Christ, looking forward to when we can eat a big meal on our own at the Father’s table.

We need a strong desire for God’s Word. We should hunger after God’s truth and thirst for His presence. As we spend time with him doing both of these things, we grow stronger spiritually.

You can develop a deep, intimate relationship with God, the Creator of the universe, but it takes an investment on your part. It requires a commitment to your growth and development. So where do you start?

  1. Read His Word.
  2. Follow His commands.
  3. Stretch your faith.

One of the biggest challenges to growing up spiritually is finding time to spend with God. The key is to put it on your calendar. Make your appointment with God the highest priority on your schedule.
