See Jesus in the Small Things with Ben Fuller

When asked about his past or how he lived as a drug addict, Christian singer, songwriter and guitarist, Ben Fuller has a great attitude about it. He told Family Life Radio, “It’s amazing how just that [question] in itself, reminds me of how far I’ve come today [just a few years later], clean and sober. It’s like – ‘Wow! Wait! I lived there and now I’m here!’”

When they had eaten their fill, [Jesus] told his disciples, “Gather up the leftover fragments, that nothing may be lost.” So they gathered them up and filled twelve baskets with fragments from the five barley loaves left by those who had eaten.

– John 6:12-13 ESV

Jesus multiplied the five loaves and two fishes that a young boy offered – his lunch – to feed a multitude of people. The disciples’ faith is contrasted with this boy’s willingness to give the small thing that He had; but the disciples – not without resources – offered nothing because they perceived what they had as not enough.

In the hands of the Master, even the small things can become significant.

Ben Fuller was someone on hour number one, trying to just make it to hour three. Ben says, “I see Jesus in so many of the smaller things. The minor details are what I need to hear from somebody else that’s going through something. That’s where Jesus shows up for me.”

Don’t despise the small things; in the hands of the Master they become significant.

Today’s One Thing

What is something you can give to Jesus, no matter how small, and allow Him to do with it whatever He will? Will you place it in the hands of the Master and allow Him to make it significant in your life, in the life of someone else? It will serve a purpose perhaps only He knows at the time.
