Sin No Longer Has Dominion

Have you ever felt that obedience to God is almost impossible? No matter how hard you tried, temptation seemed more substantial, and failure felt inevitable. But that’s not the end of the story. Through Christ’s resurrection, you are no longer a slave to sin. Sin does not own you. It does not define you. Because of Christ’s actions, grace takes its place; where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.

For sin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace.
– Romans 6:14 ESV

Before Christ set you free, sin enticed you. It whispered lies, convincing you that breaking free wasn’t possible and pleasure in the sin would be more enjoyable. But through Christ’s death and resurrection, Jesus shattered sin’s power. He forgave your past and broke sin’s authority over your present and future. Now, grace rules where sin once reigned. The same power that raised Christ from the dead gives you victory over sin.

Now, temptation doesn’t disappear. You will still face moments when sin tries to reclaim ground, but it no longer has dominion. When temptation comes, rely on God’s power and authority. The Holy Spirit gives you the wisdom to recognize sin’s trap and the strength to walk away. When you feel weak, His grace strengthens you. When you stumble, His mercy lifts you.

The Holy Spirit has power over all temptations – rely on Him.

To experience freedom in Christ, all that’s required is your surrender. The more you fix your eyes on Jesus; the less appealing sin becomes. The Spirit transforms your desires, shaping them to reflect God’s heart. You are free to choose righteousness because His grace empowers you.

Instead of living under the weight of shame, stand in the confidence of grace. Instead of striving to earn God’s approval, rest in His love. Instead of falling back into old patterns, walk forward in the power of the Holy Spirit. Sin has no dominion over you.

Today’s One Thing
Pray for forgiveness, trust God’s righteousness and grace, and affirm, “In Christ, I am no longer a slave to sin. God’s grace rules my life, and the Spirit strengthens me. I walk in victory.”
