Single Strength

A rope is a cord of fibers or strands twisted or braided together to form a more robust tensile line than any single fiber or strand by itself. There are different sizes and types of rope for different purposes, and a braided rope is stronger than a twisted rope.

And though a man might prevail against one who is alone, two will withstand him—a threefold cord is not quickly broken.

– Ecclesiastes 4:12 ESV

Unless you use rope for a living or hobby, the significance may only seem important when you need it. Imagine, just for a moment, like the material used in making rope; you are a long single fiber. In this type of scenario, you have limited strength, and your capacity to help pull or tow is based on your single strength and endurance. Yes, your purpose remains essential, but the tasks or ways you can be used are limited and confined to whatever a single strand can do.

Using the same illustration, when you braid yourself with a collective group of other long single fibers and allow the craftsman (God) to weave each of you together, forming a single braided rope containing many fibers, then your strength capacity is stronger. Now your strength is multiplied by the number of strands used, and your ability to broaden the ways you can help and be used is significantly more. Three strands braided together by the Craftsman are not quickly broken.

Allow God to use others to strengthen you, and be willing to let Him use you to increase your opportunities for Kingdom impact in their lives as well.

Understanding your singular strength and knowing that being unified by God with others who have God’s direction, increases your ability to be effective and tackle newer opportunities.

God is the Craftsman, and you are in the right place at the right time to be used or to help others. Submit yourself entirely to the Lord and watch what happens.

Today’s One Thing
Praise God for the strength He has given you to serve. Submit yourself entirely to Him, and listen for His guidance to pray for and bless others.
