Spiritual Nutrition Required
Teach me to do your will, for you are my God! Let your good Spirit lead me on level ground!
─ Psalm 143:10
Every living thing on the earth was placed here to grow and produce. If someone sticks a post in the ground, the earth will do everything it can to make that dead wood grow. All that effort from the soil causes the dead thing, which can no longer absorb and use the nutrients from the dirt, to breakdown and return to the earth. That’s why dead wood, like fence posts in the ground, decay or rot. If there’s even a small amount of life left in a dead-looking tree, we can see the tree sprout new growth.
Just as it is important for us to have the right nutrients to grow physically, we also need to grow spiritually. Some of the important nutrients necessary for spiritual growth include:
- time with God in prayer.
- time reading and studying the Bible.
- fellowship with other believers.
- time in worship.
In addition to the right nutrients, God, our teacher helps us to grow in our faith. As we learn from Him, we develop our faith and produce good fruit in our lives.
