Stand Tall on Your Knees

During an interview at the PNC ProAm Championship that aired on the Golf Channel last December, Gary Player said, “A man is never taller than when he’s on his knees.”

Figure out what will please Christ, and then do it.

– Ephesians 5:10 MSG

Gary Player’s words remind you that true strength and greatness come from humility and a willingness to submit to God. On your knees in prayer, you acknowledge your need for God, His wisdom and guidance. This act of humility allows you to grow closer to Him and become more grounded in your faith.

In addition to being a time of submission and humility, prayer is also a time of transformation. As you bring your burdens to God and seek His will for your life, He can work in you to change your heart and mind.

“A man is never taller than when he’s on his knees.”

Through prayer, you can experience the peace and strength that only God can provide. “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything; tell God your needs, and don’t forget to thank him for his answers. If you do this, you will experience God’s peace, which is far more wonderful than the human mind can understand. His peace will keep your thoughts and your hearts quiet and at rest as you trust in Christ Jesus”
(Philippians 4:6-7 TLB).

As you live each day to figure out what pleases Christ and do it, remember the importance of humility and a heart of service. May you follow in the footsteps of Jesus and be willing to humble yourself in prayer and in your daily actions, as you work to serve and glorify God.

Today’s One Thing
Stand tall before God today and let prayer be a constant part of your daily actions. Bring all your concerns with thanksgiving to Him. Allow His transformative power to always be at work in your heart.
