Stay Spiritually Hydrated

“But whoever takes a drink of the water that I will give him shall never, no never, be thirsty any more. But the water that I will give him shall become a spring of water welling up (flowing, bubbling) [continually] within him unto (into, for) eternal life.”

─ John 4:14 AMPC

“Toss me one of the cantinas,” Anna called to Samuel, as the small group of five campers worked together to set up their campsite.

“May as well pass them all out,” their guide, Kurt, called down from the hill. “We all need to make sure we stay hydrated.”

Just as physical hydration is vital to our health, spiritual hydration is critical too. Jesus made a promise to you – if you drink from the supply of spiritual water He provides, you’ll never be thirsty again. With Him, you’ll never become spiritually dehydrated if you continue to receive the spring of water welling up to eternal life.

Isaiah 12:3 says, “With joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation” (ESV). Verses 4-6 in that same chapter reveals six ways you can stay spiritually hydrated:

  1. Give thanks to the Lord.
  2. Call upon His name.
  3. Make known His deeds among the peoples.
  4. Proclaim that His name is exalted.
  5. Sing praises to the Lord.
  6. Shout and sing for joy.

Whenever you feel spiritually dry remember Jesus’ promise and drink from His spring of living water.
