Stewarding Your Moments

But all things become visible when they are exposed by the light, for everything that becomes visible is light. For this reason it says, “Awake, sleeper, And arise from the dead, And Christ will shine on you.” So then, be careful how you walk, not as unwise men but as wise, making the most of your time, because the days are evil.

─ Ephesians 5:13-16 NASB

Stewarding Your Moments

One of the greatest challenges, especially in our culture today, is we try to take on too many things. A Chinese proverb says, “One cannot manage too many affairs. Like pumpkins in the water, one pops up while you try to hold down the other.”

We can waste our lives; we can squander precious moments while life passes us by. In our verse today, Paul encourages us to be good stewards of the moments we have. His words encourage us to be vigilant, wake up, pay attention, observe and wisely use the time we have to make our life count by stewarding the moments God has given us.

Paul made his life count. He could have rejected God when God laid him flat on the ground (Acts 9:1-19). But that moment in time on the Damascus road changed the entire course of his life. Now, thousands of years later, we read his account of his life and the difference that he made.
