Our Story of His Faithfulness

“But the Lord stood by me and strengthened me.”

─ 2 Timothy 4:17

Carlie leaned forward to pick up a sock that had escaped from her gym bag. Her shirt slid forward, exposing a horrific looking scar on the left side of her abdomen, as she climbed out of her friend Lydia’s car.

“Oh my gosh, Carlie,” Lydia gasped, “what happened to you?”

“It happened a long time ago,” she said. “It’s a long story.”

Lydia knew from Carlie’s immediate reaction to cover the scar, she’d reached deeply into a place from the past her friend didn’t want to share with others. “I’m sorry; I shouldn’t have asked,” Lydia apologized.

“No, it’s really okay,” Carlie said with a slight smile. “The Lord is helping me to be open and more vulnerable with people. I am learning to be comfortable sharing about it. I want to tell you more when we have time. It is an amazing testimony of God’s faithfulness to me through a really tragic time in my life.”

When we share our story of God’s faithfulness in our life, it gives others hope. God is not asking us to expose past sins, but to share from our heart. Our story of God at work in our life encourages those we share it with to realize they can achieve greatness and overcome challenges.

Today’s One Thing

Ask God who you should share His story of faithfulness in your life with today. Then trust Him to give you the strength necessary to be open as you tell it.
