Strength for the New

Have you ever started something new? Did you initially experience a mix of emotions? Excitement pulses through you, and the many unanswered questions swirl in your mind. The questions come quickly—Am I ready? What about this or that? Who can help?  This is where excitement and craziness intertwine – right? But here’s the good news: God never calls you into something new without equipping you.

Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.
– Deuteronomy 31:6 ESV

When Moses passed the mantle of leadership to Joshua, the task ahead looked massive. Leading an entire nation into unknown territory wasn’t something Joshua could do with his strength. But God made a promise: “Be strong and courageous…” This is God’s promise for you today, too.

Strength comes from the One who calls you. You may have already stepped into a new assignment, and the pressure feels real. The learning curve is steep. The expectations feel high. God stands beside you, and the Holy Spirit is your Helper. He is your source of power, insight, and endurance. When you trust and listen to God, you will find answers to questions and resolutions to problems.

God is your strength.

True strength includes God’s peace. Jesus knew that His disciples would face challenges beyond their abilities, so He left them with a Helper and promise: “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.” (John 14:27, ESV). When you commit yourself to prayer and submit to guidance from the Lord, He will provide.

God has already prepared you and will strengthen you every step of the way. Don’t worry about having everything all figured out before you start. Take the next step, knowing that the same God who called you is trustworthy and will provide what you need in your new venture.

Today’s One Thing
Give thanks to God for calling you, and affirm, “God gives me strength, He surrounds me, and He assures me. I will move forward with confidence.”
