Take Time to Listen

Taking time to wait on God brings peace, joy and direction.

None who wait for you shall be put to shame.
– Psalm 25:3 ESV

Do you, like many, rush into your day with the many cares this world brings? You may attempt to conquer all that needs to get done in your own strength. You may wrestle on your own to solve problems.

Take time to pray. Then take a few minutes to wait on God. He promises to renew your strength. “They who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint” (Isaiah 40:31 ESV).

Waiting on God strengthens you for the work He has for you.

  • Remind yourself of what is true by reading God’s Word.
  • Pray and ask Him to deepen your understanding of what He wants you to learn.
  • Pray for what He puts on your heart: your family, your coworkers, your church and your community.
  • Then wait.
  • Wait a little longer.
  • Listen.
  • Write down what comes to mind.

As you wait on the Lord and listen, He renews you. You will have peace and joy in serving Him where He has placed you. You will be strengthened to do what He has called you to. You will sense you are being carried on the wings of eagles.

Today’s One Thing
Spend at least two minutes being quiet and listening to God. Write down the date and what He shows you.
