Tell Jesus’ Story about You

The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the foremost. But I received mercy for this reason, that in me, as the foremost, Jesus Christ might display his perfect patience as an example to those who were to believe in him for eternal life. To the King of the ages, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.

─ 1 Timothy 1:15-17 ESV

Tell Jesus’ Story about You

On their 12th wedding anniversary, Rick accompanied Callie to an awards dinner. Rick wasn’t particularly excited about spending his anniversary with his wife’s coworkers. He’d rather have an evening all to themselves, especially since they were paying a babysitter.

Later that evening, when the three other couples at their table found out it was their wedding anniversary, they began to congratulate them. Rick joked, “Yes, it has been the best seven years of my life.” “I thought it was your 12th anniversary?” said one of the men. Rick replied, “Yes it is, but the first five were rough.”

Surprised by their openness to share their story, the couples around the table leaned in and listened intently as Callie and Rick testified to God’s mercy and grace to teach them how to love one another His way.

Similarly, in our verse today, Paul did not hesitate to share his past with others. He called himself the worst of sinners. He knew that shining the light on his own failures would give others hope in Jesus. By giving others a glimpse of his past, he demonstrated to others the power of God’s love and the importance of what Jesus came to do – save mankind.

Don’t be afraid to tell your before and after Christ story. What God has done for you shows others that they too can be changed by the power of Christ.

Today’s One Thing

Pray and ask God to give you an opportunity to share your story. Then when He brings those people across your path, expect His power and strength to be at work to share what God can do for them because He did it for you.
