Thankful for God’s Grace

The Lord is not slack concerning His promises, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.

─ 2 Peter 3:9 NKJV

Thankful for God’s Grace

The promise of Jesus’ return has spanned centuries and generations. For us, it can seem like God is slow to send Jesus back for us, but God is not on our timetable. His mercies are new every morning (Lamentations 3:22-23).

We can sometimes grow weary in our hope for Christ’s return. But God is patient toward us. Our verse today confirms His deep desire for every person to know Him and live in relationship with Him now and throughout all eternity.

That same grace is at work in your life. His graciousness allows for new beginnings, and millions of second chances. Although we should never take God’s grace for granted, it is vital to our own life transformation as we grow in faith and in our relationship with Him.

We live in between the first and second comings of Christ. We are not a patient people on any account, but we must never give up because Jesus’ return is imminent and could happen at any time. We must live each day ready to meet Him at any moment, but also set a course to serve him all the days of our lives.

Today’s One Thing

Set aside 15 minutes each morning this week. Put it as an appointment in your calendar. Get up early or stay up late but commit to spending that time with Him. After seven days, your prayer life will definitely look different.
