The Angel of the Lord is on Guard

The Angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear Him [who revere and worship Him with awe] and each of them He delivers. O taste and see that the Lord [our God] is good! Blessed (happy, fortunate, to be envied) is the man who trusts and takes refuge in Him.

─ Psalm 34:7-8 AMPC

Ashley leaned against the doorframe of her 16-year-old daughter Katelyn’s bedroom door reflecting on Psalm 34: The angel of the Lord is on guard, protecting and defending my family. She scanned the room, carefully noting each of the unique and precious memoirs that filled the room, displaying elements of Katelyn’s beautiful character and individuality.

Ashley remembered just a few weeks ago giving her daughter the keys to the family car. It was the first time Katelyn took the car out alone. On the outside she smiled, excited for her daughter, but on the inside, she fought a battle in her mind against the fear of something bad happening.

Today, God had faithfully kept Katelyn safe on the road. What could have been a terrible accident was not, by the protective hand of God. “It was amazing,” Katelyn had said. “It was like God just scooted me out of the way – even though there wasn’t a place to go.”

God never takes His eyes off you. He watches over His children day and night. “The Lord is watching everywhere, keeping His eye on both the evil and the good” (Proverbs 15:3 NLT).

Today’s One Thing

Take a few moments today and remember how God has protected and defended you and those you love. Give Him thanks today during your prayer time, and then share that story with someone and encourage them about God’s protection.
