The Bible – Searching the Mind of God

For “who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct Him?” But we have the mind of Christ.

─ 1 Corinthians 2:16 NKJV

Luis Palau encouraged us, “Whatever you’re dealing with, turn to Scripture. It’s not just a book, it’s the mind of God. Every decision you make should be checked with the Bible. The Bible puts your mind, your emotions and your decision-making process in line with God’s will.”

All wisdom has been given to us. According to 1 Corinthians 2:16, we can make decisions according to God’s will for our lives because we have the mind of Christ. The Bible reveals God’s character and nature. We discover how He thinks about us through the words He shared with us and the lessons learned by past generations.

People constantly tell us what they think of us, what they believe is best for us or what they think we should do – even when we don’t ask for their input. We live in a very openly opinionated society. The words of others, well intended and otherwise, can often sway us to believe less than God’s best.

Instead of listening to what the world says about you or the situation you’re facing, search God’s Word for the mind of God. What does He say about it? What outcomes does He promise for you, His chosen child?

Today’s One Thing

Search God’s Word today for the answers to the questions you have or the decisions you need to make. Write at least three things down on an index card that God says about the situation. Here’s an example to get you started:

Isaiah 35:4 ESV – “Say to those who have an anxious heart, ‘Be strong; fear not! Behold, your God will come with vengeance, with the recompense of God. He will come and save you.’”
