The Joy of Surrender

In a conversation with Family Life Radio, Rhett Walker said, “The happiest day of my life was the day we got married. … I proposed after we found out she was pregnant. We knew we wanted to get married – just not that quickly.”

“Behold, God is my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid; ‘For Yah, the Lord, is my strength and song; He also has become my salvation.’”

– Isaiah 12:2 NKJV

When life makes an unexpected turn, it can be easy to feel lost or overwhelmed. Yet, it is precisely in these moments that God invites us to surrender our plans for His, to trust in His guidance, and find peace in His presence.

“We said, ‘All right, God, here’s our life.’” Rhett continued, “‘We’ve screwed this up. Take our life and use it wherever you want to.’”

When you lay down your plans at God’s feet, He will guide you towards His best for your life.

Surrender – a courageous step of faith – acknowledges our limitations and places our trust in God, who is all-knowing and all-loving. The Bible echoes this call to trust in God with our entire being.

You might be facing decisions that seem too big to handle, or you may be at a crossroads, unsure of which path to take. It’s in these moments that God whispers to your heart, inviting you to trust Him with your fears, dreams, and uncertainties.

Surrendering to God is the first step towards a life filled with purpose, hope, and immeasurable joy. Trust in Him and watch how He transforms your life in ways you never imagined.

Today’s One Thing

Say this aloud to God today: “I am a beloved child of God, trusting not in my own strength, but in His eternal wisdom and guidance. I surrender my life to God’s plan, confident that He will lead me to His best.”
