The Kingdom that Cannot Be Shaken

It’s an opening scene of many movies – a catastrophic event occurs – and the heroes battle back to save their kingdom or the entire world. Against all odds they fight, struggling to keep the faith, trying to believe they can do the impossible.

We stand fearless at the cliff-edge of doom, courageous in seastorm and earthquake, Before the rush and roar of oceans, the tremors that shift mountains.
─ Psalm 46:2 MSG

The writer of Psalms declares in our verse today that even if the world were to end, you can stand firm without fear because God will save you.

Be confident – you reside in a kingdom that cannot be shaken.

When catastrophic events occur – earthquakes, tsunamis, floods, tornadoes and even events like pandemics or wars – countries rise and fall, and the world as we know it is shaken. The thought of whole cities sliding into the sea opens hearts to fear, dread and anxiety.

God’s offer of safety isn’t a temporary place to wait out the storm, but a strong tower to keep you from harm no matter what comes your way. As a child of God, you can stand firm, confident in God, because you reside in a kingdom that cannot be shaken.

Today’s One Thing

Read Psalm 46 aloud as a prayer to God. Call, text or tell someone how God has made you rise above the storms of your life. Let your story encourage them.
