The Real Question – Will Jesus Find Faith in You?

Nestled in the story Jesus told of the persistent woman – found in Luke 18:1-8 – Jesus asks a profound question. It’s easily overlooked because we tend to focus on the story. But Jesus’ question holds a huge key to the parable.

“When the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?”
─ Luke 18:8 NKJV

Luke prefaced the story, stating that the purpose of it is to encourage you to always pray and never give up. The woman in Jesus’ story wants justice for a wrong done, and she presses an unjust judge to do his job on her behalf. Eventually the judge caves to her persistence and grants her what she’s asked for simply because he grew tired of her constant petition.

Hold fast to what God has promised and believe He will do it.

Jesus’ question in our verse today – will He find faith on the earth when He returns – is a call to hold fast to what He has promised and believe He will do it, no matter what it takes. He’s looking for the one who refuses to live their life downcast and discouraged or doesn’t give up because of the challenges of this life in Christ.

God is a faithful and trustworthy Father. When it seems your prayers aren’t being answered, the circumstances of life aren’t what you’d hoped for or you struggle with disappointment, let your faith rise by trusting God anyway. Believe He is working out a purpose you can’t see yet.

Today’s One Thing
Make a decision today that no matter what comes, you will stand firm in your faith. Then talk to Him about it. Confess “Father, I just don’t see it yet, but I trust you. I stand firm believing you are working all things to my good. I will see your faithfulness at the end of this.”
