The Unspoken: Address Lust with Grace and Truth
Let’s talk about something that often stays hidden, something many of us struggle with but rarely bring into the light: lust. It’s a sensitive topic, and it’s easy to feel isolated, like you’re the only one wrestling with these feelings. You’re not alone, and there’s a way forward.
But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.
– Galatians 5:16 ESV
The Bible tells us to “walk by the Spirit” so that we won’t “gratify the desires of the flesh.” It’s a powerful promise given to you – one that declares we don’t have to be a slave to our urges. You can choose a different path. But how do you start walking by the Spirit when it feels like you’re stuck in a rut?
Experience the freedom that comes from a life lived in the Spirit.
- Acknowledge that it’s okay to seek help.
Whether it’s talking to a trusted friend, a pastor or a counselor, opening up about your struggle is the first step toward healing. You don’t have to carry this burden alone; there’s grace and truth waiting for you in your faith community.
2. Spend time studying God’s Word and talking to the Father in prayer.
When those thoughts and urges come, redirect your focus to God. Remember, He’s not there to condemn you; He’s there to guide you toward freedom.
As you take that courageous step to bring your struggle into the light, you’ll find that you’re not met with judgment but with grace and truth. You’ll discover a community of believers who are walking this path with you, and most importantly, you’ll experience the freedom that comes from a life lived in the Spirit.
Today’s One Thing
Pray: “Heavenly Father, I come before You with my struggles and lay them at Your feet. Help me to walk by Your Spirit and not gratify the desires of my flesh. Surround me with Your grace and truth as I navigate this sensitive area of my life. Amen.”
