The Wise Still Worship Him

The worship God desires occurs when you give Him something you value. True worship costs you something. That in itself makes it a sacrifice, giving yourself fully surrendered to Him.

Entering the house where the baby and Mary, his mother, were, [the wisemen] threw themselves down before him, worshiping. Then they opened their presents and gave him gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
─ Matthew 2:11 TLB

The wise men who visited Jesus as a baby brought expensive gifts that acknowledged this child as a future king. The gifts of gold symbolized royalty, incense for deity and myrrh for someone who was going to die. They gave Jesus the best they had to give.

Give God the best you have to give as you worship Him.

Notice today’s verse. They worshipped first, and then presented their gifts. It signifies their hearts were ready to receive Jesus, and they worshipped and accepted Him first before giving Him the gifts. They honored Him and the Heavenly Father for what they believed would come because of God’s sacrifice for humanity.

He gave His life for yours. He exchanged your sin for His sinlessness, your sentence of eternal death for eternal life.

Today’s One Thing
How will you honor Christ today with worship for all He’s done for you?
