Think Like Christ

Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.

─ Philippians 4:8

Our thoughts are powerful. What we think about most leads to action on our part. Negative thoughts can lead negative actions, just as positive thoughts can bring positive outcomes. Paul encourages us to program our minds with good and godly things (Philippians 4:8).

Life is full of challenges. Watching the news or reading social media feeds can cause us to dwell on the pain in the world and our own difficult circumstances. But Paul also tells us we can have the mind of Christ. We can think like He does. We can replace negative thoughts with positive ones by reading God’s Word, meditating on how that scripture applies to our life today and then putting it into action by doing what the Bible says.

Paul said in 1 Corinthians 2:16, “‘For who has understood the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?’ But we have the mind of Christ.” Through the Word we can know His thoughts and with the help of the Holy Spirit we can talk to Him and trust Him with our prayers.
