Time Out for Gratitude
“One of the biggest components for overcoming regrets is to sit in gratitude.” ~Christian Bevere
The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.
– Lamentations 3:22-23 ESV
It’s easy to get caught up in a cycle of regret, looking back at moments we wish we could redo. Look again at Christian Bevere’s words above. Think about that for a moment. No matter what yesterday looked like, God’s love and mercy for you are fresh each day.
Whatever you’re holding onto—a harsh word you wish you hadn’t said, an opportunity you missed, or even a day spent scrolling on social media instead of being present with loved ones—God’s mercy is there to meet you, new each morning. In His eyes, every day is a fresh start, a new canvas on which His love and grace can paint a beautiful story.
Your shortcomings are not the end of your story, but simply reminders of your need for God’s grace.
You might feel unworthy at times, weighed down by the “if onlys” and “what ifs”. But God gently reminds us, just as He reminded Christian, that our shortcomings are not the end of our story. They are simply reminders of our need for His grace, which He offers abundantly.
So today, let’s take a step toward embracing that grace. Let’s shift our focus from our regrets to the gratitude for a God whose love is so vast, it covers every mistake and lights up every new morning with hope.
Today’s One Thing
Take a time out today and just sit in gratitude. Quietly accept your Heavenly Father’s embrace of unending mercy and new mercies. Imagine seeing yourself through His eyes – not as a person defined by past regrets, but as His beloved child, renewed and restored by His grace.
