Trust the Lord for Your Child

As children grow older, they begin to make choices that sometimes cause parents concern. The verse today in Isaiah encourages you, as a parent, to trust the Lord to teach them and give them peace. Cornelia leaned into the Lord with today’s verse as her daughter, Christina pursued her dream of a career in modeling.

All your children shall be taught by the Lord, and great shall be the peace of your children.

– Isaiah 54:13 ESV

As a small child in a conservative home, Christina was drawn to the camera. At 15 years old, she received an opportunity to attend a modeling convention. Her father was against it, but her mother knew how much she wanted it and allowed her to participate.

Cornelia said, “I prayed about it a lot because I knew behind closed doors a lot of things could happen.” She spoke with her daughter about her concerns, encouraged her to be careful and not give herself to inappropriate things. “And,” Cornelia said, “I let it go, and I let God take care of it.”

God loves your child even more than you do.

Sometimes it can be hard to let go and let God. As much as you love your child and want to protect them from the mistakes they’ll make in life, the Lord loves them even more. He desires to teach them and fill them with His peace.

You have a promise – God has given His Word to teach your children and give them peace. In times of concern, you can hold on to that promise. He will never leave them or forsake them. What a powerful promise to fill you with hope today.

Today’s One Thing

Pray today’s verse over your child today and thank God for His unfailing promise. Say, “God is personally teaching my child(ren). Great is their God-given peace. Thank you, God, that your Word never returns to you without accomplishing what you promised.”
