Trust for All of Our Tomorrows

“Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”

─ Matthew 6:34

God has provided countless Bible verses that courageously implore us not to fear or worry, but to let tomorrow take care of itself. That can be a big challenge because it’s just natural to want to know what’s next or what to expect.

Imagine what a challenge it was for Moses’ mother (Exodus 2). No doubt she spent a lot of time thinking about what would happen to her baby after Pharaoh declared that all Hebrew boys under the age of two years be killed. God made a way for her to hide him until the time came for God to reveal him in an extraordinary way. She had no idea that God would eventually make a way for her to be a part of his life. He was raised in the palace and adopted by the very family that originally declared all Hebrew baby boys be slain.

Living each day in the moment, not worrying about tomorrow, requires trust in God through constant reminders of God’s faithfulness. Hope in God allowed Moses’ mother to live each day expecting God to deliver her people and spare her child from death. She had hope in God’s promises because she could remember how God had faithfully cared for her family and her people for many generations.

God gives us what we need for today, so we can trust He will take care of all our tomorrows.
