Unconditionally Approved

Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God. But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love.

─ 1 John 4:7-8 NLT

“Conditionally approved? Conditionally approved?” Max mumbled rather loudly over the top of his computer screen.

“What is it? What’s wrong?” his wife, Janet asked, as she walked into the extra room he used as an office.

“Our loan for the new house is ‘conditionally approved.’ Their letter is all celebratory sounding until you get to those two words. Then there’s a list of a bunch of requirements – documents we have to provide in order to qualify.”

God’s love is unconditional. You don’t have to jump through hoops or prove anything to Him. His acceptance is assured.  He loves you without conditions because it is His nature to love (1 John 4:8). He loved you long before you loved Him. It was His love for you that compelled Him to demonstrate just how much He loved you by sending His only Son into the world to die so that you might have eternal life with Him.

His all-consuming love is powerful and by His grace, He gives you faith to believe what others perceive as unbelievable. He sees you as precious and valuable. No matter what comes your way, nothing can remove you from your Father’s hand.

Today’s One Thing

Make a list of everyone who loves you. Then consider that no matter how much you know they love you; they can never love you like your Heavenly Father. Get alone with God today and don’t ask Him for anything, but just thank Him for loving you, and tell Him what that means to you.
