Understanding Jesus

No one would ever say that they questioned Jesus motives, or the purposes of God, the Father. And yet, so many misunderstand why Jesus came to earth.

A thief comes only to rob, kill, and destroy. I came so that everyone would have life, and have it in its fullest.

Herod, king of Judea, at the time of Jesus’ birth, feared this newborn king would one day take his throne. He completely misunderstood the reason for Jesus’ arrival. In fear, he killed all the baby boys under the age of two in an attempt to kill Jesus.

Jesus came to give abundant life to anyone who will receive Him.

In His own words, Jesus clearly stated He came to give abundant life to anyone who would receive Him.

Jesus never wanted to rule an earthly kingdom or take Herod’s throne. Herod missed the point. Jesus wanted to be the king of Herod’s life. Jesus didn’t want to take anything away from Herod but wanted to give Herod the same thing He desires to give everyone – abundant, eternal life.

People across this planet resist Christ because they misunderstand the truth. The thief desires to confuse and twist the truth of why Jesus came. Jesus came to give freedom, peace, joy and so many other things that come with a life lived pleasing Him.

Today’s One Thing
If you have not yet accepted Jesus as your personal savior, surrender to Him today, and allow Him to be the Lord of your life. If you know Him, pray for someone who needs to experience salvation.
