Steady and Unshakable Faith
“And you will feel secure, because there is hope; you will look around and take your rest in security”
─ Job 11:18
We all have our favorite books we like to read in the Bible, and those we may not read frequently. Job is one of those books most people admit they don’t read often because they don’t enjoy it. Yet, God included Job’s story in His Word, and there are many lessons for us as believers to discover.
The tragic sorrow and grief Job endured reminds us we live in a fallen world. A world where those who live for Christ are not always recognized or rewarded, and evil often goes unpunished.
Job, a godly man, experiences pain and loss for no fault of his own, but his story does not end in hopelessness. Job remained determined to trust God when he lost his wealth, health and all of his children died. His friends accused him of having sin in his life and encouraged him to curse God and die. Although Job struggled to understand why these terrible things happened to him, he remained unshakable in his faith and confident that God’s final purpose would eventually come to pass. In the end, God restored all Job had lost.
When life is overwhelming, we can trust God when we do not understand the challenges we face. Job’s story demonstrates our faith in God is justified even when our circumstances look desperate.
