Use Your Gifts to Fan the Flame

For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

─ Ephesians 2:10 NIV

Do you know what your spiritual gift is? Some people’s gifts are out in the open for all to see—pastors, musicians and ushers are easy to recognize. But if you’re not on the platform every Sunday, that doesn’t mean your gift from God is less important.

In Ephesians 2:10, God declared that you are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works. Do you like to entertain or always have a smile on your face? Do you have a heart to pray for others? Are you a great organizer? Your natural abilities are gifts from God that He can use to build up His church.

Our verse today confirms you are truly needed! Your gift is important to the believers God’s connected you with, even if you don’t yet see where you fit in your church body. You are a gift given to them, and it’s important to look to use what God’s placed within you to build up other Christ followers.

If you’re not sure of your part in the Body of Christ, ask God to show you what He’s gifted you to do and direct you where to offer your service. The Creator placed a spark of talent in you—so fan the flame by exercising your gifts in service. God can use you to help the Church set the world on fire!

Today’s One Thing

If you are still waiting to know where you fit into the Body of Christ, ask God to show you the gifts He’s placed in you and connect with church leadership to help you discover where to offer your service. If you’re already fanning the flame, ask God to show you how to help others discover their own talents and use them for His glory.
