Walk with the Wise
God places people in our lives to encourage, instruct, and challenge us to grow.
Where there is no counsel, the people fall; but in the multitude of counselors there is safety.
—Proverbs 11:14 NKJV
One of the most powerful examples of godly mentorship in Scripture is the relationship between Paul and Timothy. Paul, a seasoned apostle, took Timothy under his wing, teaching him not only about ministry but about steadfast faith and endurance. Timothy faced opposition, discouragement, and doubts, yet Paul continually poured into him, reminding him of his calling and the power of the Holy Spirit at work in his life.
Paul’s letters to Timothy weren’t just theological lessons; they were deeply personal encouragements. In 2 Timothy 1:6-7, Paul tells Timothy to “stir up the gift of God which is in you” and reminds him that God has given him a spirit of power, love, and a sound mind. Paul knew Timothy struggled with fear and uncertainty, but rather than condemning him, he encouraged him to walk boldly in his calling.
A godly mentor sees the potential in you even when you can’t see it in yourself—and they remind you to keep your eyes on Jesus.
This is the beauty of godly mentorship—having someone who has walked before us and is willing to invest in our spiritual growth. A mentor provides wisdom from their own experiences, offers accountability, and speaks life when we feel weak.
If you don’t have a mentor, ask God to bring one into your life. And if you are in a season where you can mentor someone else, pray for the opportunity to pour into another woman’s life. Spiritual growth is multiplied when we walk alongside one another.
Today’s One Thing
Pray: “Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of wise and godly mentors. Help me to seek out those who will guide me in Your truth and give me the courage to invest in others as well. Let my heart remain teachable and my faith strengthened through godly relationships. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
