What Can God Do?

When we face impossible situations, our first instinct is often to ask, “What can I do?” But Seed Company founder, and former Wycliffe Bible Translators CEO, Bernie May reminds us that this is the wrong question. The real breakthrough happens when we ask, “What can God do?”

But Jesus looked at them and said to them, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
—Matthew 19:26 NKJV

Asking “What can God do?” changes everything.” When we shift our perspective from our own limitations to God’s unlimited power, we begin to see our situation differently. We stop striving in our own strength and start trusting in His.

Jesus reminds us in Matthew 19:26, “…with God all things are possible.” Notice that contrast—with men things are impossible, but with God the impossible becomes possible.

With God the impossible becomes possible.

Think about Moses standing at the edge of the Red Sea. If he had asked, “What can I do?” the answer would have been discouraging. But when God stepped in, the sea parted. Or consider the disciples, who saw thousands of hungry people but only had a few loaves and fish. On their own, there was no solution—but in Jesus’ hands, a miracle unfolded.

What situation in your life feels impossible right now? Instead of asking what you can do, ask, “What can God do?” Then, watch as He moves in ways beyond what you could imagine.

Today’s One Thing
Think of one challenge you’ve been trying to handle on your own. Write it down, then surrender it to God in prayer. Ask Him to show you what He can do.
