When It Feels Like No One’s Listening
Sometimes, it feels like our words are just bouncing off walls, and no one seems to hear us. It’s easy to feel alone and misunderstood in those moments. But the truth is, God always listens.
But certainly God has heard me; He has attended to the voice of my prayer.
– Psalm 66:19 NKJV
You can read David’s words in the Psalms as he poured out his heart, his fears, his frustrations, and his joys. Our cries never fall on deaf ears with God. When you feel unheard by others, accept it as an invitation to draw closer to Him. It’s a chance to deepen your relationship and lean into His understanding. He knows the depths of your heart better than anyone else ever can.
Even if it feels like you’re just talking into the air, you can trust that each word reaches His ears. He treasures your honesty and vulnerability. Your silent prayers, your whispered worries, and your shouted frustrations are always significant to Him.
When it feels like no one is listening, remember that God’s ears are always open to your prayers.
There are practical steps we can take, too. Journaling our thoughts can help us say on paper what we might struggle to share out loud. Confiding in a trusted friend or a counselor can give you that listening ear you feel you need and perhaps some wise counsel.
Silence is not a sign of absence. Those around us might be listening more than we realize, and their silence might simply mean they are taking it all in. Keep communicating, keep sharing, and trust that in God’s perfect timing, understanding and support will come.
Today’s One Thing
Pray: “Heavenly Father, thank You for always listening to me, even when it feels like no one else is. Help me to remember You are always near, ready to listen. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
