You are Meant for the Here and Now

The words of the song, “He Didn’t Lift Us Up To Let Us Down,” written and first recorded by Phil Johnson in 1978, serves as a relevant reminder to you that you’re everything to Him. The song was made most popular when the Imperials, pioneers of contemporary Christian music, added the song to their Heed the Call album in 1979.

[verse]

For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.

– Ephesians 2:10 NLT

Look at the words and let them sink into your heart –

There are some promises in a letter

Written a long, long time ago

They’re not getting older, they’re getting better

Because He still wants us to know

He didn’t bring us this far to leave us

He didn’t teach us to swim to let us drown

He didn’t build His home in us to move away

He didn’t lift us up to let us down

God Almighty placed you in the here and now with significance and purpose.

He left you a letter, the Bible, filled with details of who He is and who He created you to become. Each day is an opportunity to choose to follow His plan – laid out in His Word. You have His truth to lead and guide you and His promise to never leave you.

No matter where you are on your journey in this life, God has a purpose for you. God Almighty placed you in the here and now with significance and purpose. If you still have breath in your lungs, you have something to do for Him.
