You Can Always Count on God

You’re as real to me as bedrock beneath my feet, like a castle on a cliff, my forever firm fortress, my mountain of hiding, my pathway of escape, my tower of rescue where none can reach me. My secret strength and shield around me, you are salvation’s ray of brightness shining on the hillside, always the champion of my cause.

─ Psalm 18:2 TPT

Over the course of life, someone has failed you. They failed to keep a promise or weren’t there when you needed them. We all need someone who will be there when we reach out for help, for relationship or for whatever we believe we need.

In our verse today, the Psalmist is declaring his dependence on God. Even though he can’t see God physically, he acknowledges that His presence is as real as the tangible things under his feet, the things he can see with his physical eyes, touch with his hands and experience within his soul.

He calls God his “secret strength,” a “shield around me,” and “always the champion of my cause.”

When you face seasons where you feel like no one is on your side, facing the battle alone, remember you can always count on God. He’ll never leave you or forsake you.

Today’s One Thing

Think about how you count on God in your life. Remember the times He’s been there for you. Acknowledge His dependability by sharing the story of one of those times with someone today.
